Not everything is about money.

Time to say goodbye - Indian Jones 5, starring 80-year-old icon Harrison Ford, is likely to be the final film in the Indy saga that has entertained us for four decades.

The fifth installment of the series will hit the big screen next year, and this is what Ford told Empire about his fedora-wearing character.

"I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey," Ford said, adding that it all depended on a script.

When the script came, he jumped at the chance.

And the film's director, James Mangold, echoed Ford's sentiments. For him, "it became really important to figure out how to make this a movie about a hero at sunset."

The filmmaker will certainly face a challenge as he takes over from Steven Spielberg, who directed all of the previous Indiana Jones movies starting with the first one, Raiders of the Lost Ark, in 1981.

But can we really say goodbye to the franchise we love so much, especially now that we live in the era of spinoffs and prequels? Variety reported in early November that Disney was pushing hard to develop an Indiana Jones TV show for Disney+. No plot details were given and they were looking for a writer to do the job.

Well, while the story may be over for Prof. Jones next year, we may have someone pick up his torch and carry on! And it could very well be his goddaughter Helena, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. There has been speculation on social media that she could become a new Indiana Jones, even donning his iconic fedora hat in the upcoming film.

These rumors were refuted by James Mangold on Twitter, who posted a comment saying that fans should not trust rumors. Instead, they should listen to what the actual director of the movie says, and that no one is replacing Indiana Jones with a woman in any script or cur. Period.

The title of the film, which is being referred to as Indiana Jones 5 for now, has not yet been officially announced. Its production process was somewhat unfortunate, as it was on the COVID lockdown and ended up delaying the release date by a year.
