Now it holds a much more special place in the actress’ heart.

Many TV sets are filled with special props that you've seen on screen many times and have always wanted to get your hands on.

While some of them are actually auctioned off by studios on platforms like eBay, others are stolen by cast and crew members who want to keep a piece of the production they've worked on in their homes.

Some actors are more willing to take something practical, like clothing or underwear worn by their character, but others have much more eccentric choices. Jennifer Aniston, for example, took home the neon sign from the Central Perks coffee shop when Friends wrapped production.

And Gilmore Girls ’ Lauren Graham got the pink flamingo from Lorelai's kitchen.

The thought process behind choosing this particular item from the set is as complicated as you might think. The actress explained that she and her on-screen daughter, Alexis Bledel, were essentially given a free pass on everything they wanted to take from the Gilmore house set.

According to Graham, it wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience to wander around thinking what they wanted to take. However, Bledel ended up with a Yale banner down from the wall of Rory’s room.

Graham herself, however, struggled with the decision a bit more. She did her best to explain it in one part of a book that she wrote, Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between):

“I take a pink flamingo [made] of tin that hung on the wall in the kitchen. I had no particular connection to this flamingo, but I do now, because it will always be the story I’ll tell about the thing I took. I also take a few framed photos and an apple-shaped magnet with Rory’s face on it that says ‘You’re the apple of my eye,’” she wrote.

The most mundane things that made Lorelai's kitchen feel homey and cozy were the things Graham thought would be best to take into her own life. Besides, it's always nice when little things that you don't notice at first, like a nice picture or a silly magnet, can bring back a lot of happy memories.

If you want to unlock some happy childhood memories, there is an even easier way. Just stream your favorite Gilmore Girls episodes on Netflix.
