Here's Why Everyone's Going Crazy Over 'Bones and All'
Timothée Chalamet is back on your dash – and he's hungry for blood… quite literally.
You might not be too much of a Luca Guadagnino fan, but his new movie 'Bones and All ' starring Timothée Chalamet is definitely going to make its way into your feeds – and potentially into your heart.
In the wake of the Venice Film Festival premiere, everyone seems to be obsessed with the movie – not least due to Chalamet donning a provocative backless red outfit on the red carpet, making a subtle nod to the main topic of the drama, which is… love between the two cannibals.
Despite the controversial topic and the movie's general gory vibe, 'Bones and All' has received the longest ovation of the festival so far, with people standing and applauding for 8.5 minutes straight. There are also waves on social media, with some people losing it over Chalamet's audacious outfit, and others trying to wrap their minds around his role.
"It seems as if Chalamet is determined to play more and more grimy, disheveled, unlikable characters—and really live into them—to test his fan base. And to his and his agent's credit, Bones and All is right up their alley," Twitter user @caladanarrakis noted.
Some people, however, are visibly unnerved by the movie and how it seems to "romanticize" cannibalism. Naturally, fans could not help but remember another Chalamet-led movie directed by Guadagnino, 'Call Me By Your Name', where Timothée was joined by Armie Hammer – an actor who has faced cannibalism allegations himself.
"I haven't read too much about the sexualized cannibalism movie 'Bones and All', but if it got an 8.5 minute standing ovation at Cannes, I am doubly convinced the entire audience are also Armie Hammer fans. They'll eat their own." – @krcraft
What is 'Bones and All' About, Anyway?
According to the official description, 'Bones and All' is a coming-of-age romantic horror film that, as we have already mentioned, follows the story of two young cannibals who are in love. The two embark on a road trip across the Ronald Reagan-era United States.
Chalamet is joined by Taylor Russell, who plays his lover Maren Yearly. 'Bones and All' is the first movie shot in the US for Guadagnino. The movie will be released on November 23, 2022, already creating some pretty solid Oscar buzz after Venice premiere. While Timothée Chalamet already has an Oscar nomination under his belt, all eyes are going to be on his screen partner, breakout star Taylor Russell, whose raw and earnest performance is praised by film critics and fans around the globe.
