Here's How Tom Cruise's Childhood Stunts Prepared Him for Mission: Impossible
The iconic action star revealed that ever since he was a little kid, he would try to perform stunts — and while they often ended badly, they prepared him for his future job.
Tom Cruise is undoubtedly one of the greatest movie stars: apart from his performances, he’s largely praised for his insane adrenaline-fueled stunts, fight for the future of the movie industry, and immense dedication to the craft. Cruise is among the most influential people in Hollywood, too, but he doesn’t care too much for that.
Over the years, the actor was pretty straightforward about his priorities: he wants to make great movies for his audience and he wants to die the most badass death imaginable.
Alright, we might have made the second part up — but if you’ve seen Cruise’s movie, you know exactly why!
When Cruise is not saving the movie industry in real life or saving the world on the big screen, he’s busy figuring out the most efficient way to break into an adrenaline rush.
From his action movies, filled with insane and mind-numbing stunts, to his hobbies which include the riskiest activities, Tom Cruise seeks danger at all times.
Apparently, it started when he was just a kid…and never stopped later.
"I was that little kid. As soon as I could ride a bike, I set it up so that I could jump over the trash cans. So, I start down that hill. The pedals are going so fast, [and] I couldn't keep my legs on the pedals. Halfway through it, the wood breaks. My body's flying like a rag doll! I hear a child screaming. [The ramp is considerably larger now, but] I've gotten a little better at it,” the actor recently shared in his promo interview.
This incident from Tom Cruise’s childhood definitely resembles the huge stunt he pulled off in Mission: Impossible 7. There was a big boy bike and a big boy ramp there, and he didn’t exactly ragdoll but floated gracefully…but you get the picture.
So apparently, you should be very cautious with jumping over trash cans when you’re a kid: this may very well lead you to become one of the greatest action stars and a massive adrenaline junkie later down the line!
