There was a time when first season of 'Bridgerton' became the most popular English-language TV show on Netflix. Well, guess what...

'Bridgerton ' has taken Netflix ' all-time popular TV rankings by storm, with the show's season 2 graciously sliding in front of season 1 to ascend on top of the platform's most popular English-language TV shows.

Netflix on Tuesday revealed that as of April 17 season 2 had reached 627.11 million hours viewed since its March 25 premiere.

This makes 'Bridgerton' the first-ever show to hold both first and second place on Netflix' Most Popular list. However, it still trails behind the certain non-English-language series that remains an undisputed leader with 1.65 billion hours viewed in first 28 days after launch – the South Korean thriller 'Squid Game '.

Despite what many critics said, it looks like there is more to 'Bridgerton's success than simply its season 1 lead – Duke of Hastings, portrayed by Rege Jean-Page. Season 2 has shifted focus to the eldest brother of Daphne Bridgerton, Anthony, and his love interest Kate Sharma. Page, in his turn, decided to leave the show before the launch of season 2.

With Chris Van Dusen as creator and industry giant Shonda Rhimes as producer, 'Bridgerton' is surely riding its wave of success, being greenlit for seasons 3 and 4 already. So brace for more tea from Lady Whistledown, Netflix rankings!
