Not being cast as James Bond matters little to Henry Cavill as the actor continues his triumphant march to hold the most lead superspy movie roles in Hollywood.

Summary:

  • Despite not being cast as James Bond, Henry Cavill has two new superspy movies coming out in the next three months.
  • On February 2, 2024, Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle will be released. The movie follows a spy book author who gets entangled in real-life spy games.
  • On April 19, 2024, Guy Ritchie ’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be released. The film will follow the first Black Ops fighting the Nazis.

After his stellar performance in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Henry Cavill learned the taste of a high-budget superspy movie, and he loved it. Despite not being cast as Agent 007 — for the second time — the actor seemingly embarked on a journey to leave an entirely original spy action movie legacy of his own, no Bonds attached.

You’ve likely heard about Argylle, but it’s not the only upcoming movie where Cavill will superspy his way out of sticky situations. He’s back at it with Guy Ritchie, too!

What’s Up with Henry Cavill’s Argylle?

In less than a month, on February 2, 2024, Matthew Vaughn releases his latest spy action movie, Argylle, in which Henry Cavill will portray the titular protagonist. What do we know about it — and Cavill’s character with the most un-Cavill haircut ever?

Argylle follows Elly, a successful but introverted author of spy thriller books who one day attracts the attention of a secret organization. The problem is that her book plots often get too close to reality to the real-world spies’ comfort — and Elly suddenly finds herself dragged into the politics and action of the dangerous power struggles.

Elly gets to meet Argylle — the spy she’s been, apparently, writing about for so many years, but fangirling is the least of her problems. According to her savior, she’s now the target of dangerous people who don’t want their stories to be told to the public.

Argylle is hitting the theaters soon, which is enough for excitement among the Cavill and superspy movie fans, but we have some more great news for the same public.

What’s Up with Henry Cavill’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare?

Henry Cavill’s big-screen journey as a blockbuster superspy started with Guy Ritchie, and it seems like the two ended up liking their collaboration. Their new movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, is scheduled for an April 19, 2024 release, merely two and a half months after the release of Argylle!

The movie follows the special British military unit established by Winston Churchill during World War II, the Special Operations Executive. The SOE’s sole task was to inflict the most damage upon the Nazis, and its operatives were not restricted by law. It’s considered that modern-day Black Ops units exist as the SOE’s successors.

The characters still largely remain a mystery to the public, but we do know that Henry Cavill will most likely portray one of the SOE operatives. In this case, we must say that if we got a dollar every time Guy Ritchie made a movie where Henry Cavill was a 20th-century superspy involved, we have two dollars, which is not much.

But first of all, it’s great to have them, and second of all, we’re all in for more Cavill-spy action, so bring it on. Vaughn and Ritchie are both known for their great action movies, and Cavill is known for being a fantastic action actor, so we’re expecting a lot from Argylle and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Which of these two movies are you most hyped for?
