Henry Cavill Gets Main Role in a Brand-New Spy Thriller Franchise
We were not the only ones who saw Henry Cavill as the new James Bond: in the upcoming movie franchise from Apple, the actor will become a superspy… Again!
Boy, do we all love Henry Cavill. The actor's seen some rather underwhelming "d*cking around" (James Gunn said it, not us!) in the past few years.
He was stripped of the Superman costume and mocked with faceless three-second "cameos" in DC; with Netflix, things were pretty rough, too, as The Witcher 's bosses borderline forced him out of the show as well.
Despite all of these issues, Henry Cavill's managed to stay pretty chill and positive — and the fans still adore him to the point of going to petition war with Netflix and DC… Or advocating for the actor to become the next James Bond, even!
The latter is obviously not happening as the franchise's bosses want a much less-known actor for the role, and it's a real bummer: say what you want, but Henry Cavill has quite some experience with spy roles, and he looks amazing in suits.
There's no way he wouldn't have become the world's new favorite Bond, but oh well.
Fortunately, we're not the only ones who really wanted to see Cavill return to superspy franchises.
Apple is game for that, too: according to recent information, the company's developing a new movie franchise that will see the actor jetting around the world to partake in some superspy action in the most exotic locations!
There are no particular details about the movie's details, but we know that it will be based on Ellie Conway's novel Argylle and will inherit its name.
Also, apart from Henry Cavill, quite a few other famous people are joining the cast: Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Dua Lipa, and Samuel L. Jackson among them.
Better yet, Argylle will be created by Matthew Vaughn, the director of Kingsman. This man knows a thing or two about creating spy movies, and he's very excited to undertake the new project as the novel is totally unique, according to him.
"When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming's books of the '50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre," revealed Vaughn.
Despite Apple's production, the movie will hit the theaters as well as TV screens back home as the company's partnering with Universal Studios.
Argylle is set to be released on February 2, 2024. And much like the director, we're excited about it.
