Heartstopper Star Joe Locke Has an Intriguing Update On His MCU Gig (It's Borderline a Spoiler)
At least it's not yet another name change for the Agatha Harkness spinoff.
Hardly out of the spotlight after Heartstopper season 2 premiere, Joe Locke already has something to say about his next big gig, as he's signed up to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Expect Locke in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (previously known as Coven of Chaos or House of Harkness), where he will portray a yet-to-be-named character.
However, in a new interview with Hunger, Locke dropped some hints about his part (he might as well have spoiled it).
“I know that [this show] is going to be a beast of its own. I think it’s really important and amazing that Marvel isn’t shying away from telling stories about people that don’t necessarily fit the superhero norm,” the Heartstopper star explained.
This little hint only solidified Marvel fans' confidence that yet another fan cast is coming true. Locke has been a very popular fan choice for the role of Wiccan, one of Wanda's kids. She had twins in WandaVision, and in the comics, her children Billy and Thomas Maximoff are known as Wiccan and Speed respectively.
Wiccan is canonically gay, so Locke's hint on his character not fitting the superhero norm may be an indication that he is going to portray just him. It's interesting that fans who love both Marvel and Heartstopper also dreamcast Locke's co-star, Kit Connor, as MCU 's Hulkling, Wiccan's boo.
Now that would be a multiverse combo we all deserve, even though there has been no official confirmation of Connor joining the MCU.
Meanwhile, the multi-named Agatha spinoff has been delayed until next autumn because of the ongoing strikes. Initially, it was supposed to be released this winter.
