Heartbreaking Reason Why Young Sheldon Really Ignored a Crucial TBBT Character
Sheldon might have been hiding another big trauma from us.
Young Sheldon has been officially over for a couple of months now, but all the speculations regarding its finale have never quietened down since.
The show’s ending reintroduced Jim Parsons’ adult Sheldon revealing that all this time he’s been writing his own memoir, a plot twist that came as a huge relief for many fans since it pretty much explained all the inconsistencies that The Big Bang Theory and its prequel featured at some point.
However, one viral suggestion that had the whole fandom panicking still didn’t go anywhere and, in fact, makes much more sense considering Sheldon’s specific trait.
In Young Sheldon’s finale, the character portrayed by Jim Parsons also gives a sneak peek into his family life with Amy and their two children, at some point revealing that one of their best friends Penny used to babysit the couple’s unnamed daughter.
Considering that Sheldon’s best friend Leonard was never mentioned and, on top of that, it’s also said that Sheldon and Amy named their son Leonard too, many assumed that the original Leonard might be dead, especially given that he’s had certain health problems throughout The Big Bang Theory’s whole run.
Others were quick to note that there was no reason for the franchise to kill Leonard off and the fact that Sheldon had never said anything about his friend didn’t signal his death anyway.
Despite that, the theory does have chances to be true, and this time it has something to do with Sheldon’s personal issue.
The Big Bang Theory repeatedly made it clear that Sheldon was struggling when something was changing his life that radically, especially when someone close to him would die.
This exact thing happened to the character when his father George Sr. passed away, something that eventually took years for Sheldon to reconcile to, and it becomes pretty obvious with him constantly mentioning his mother, siblings and Meemaw, but almost never his dad.
Since it was normal for Sheldon to stay in the denial phase for much longer, avoiding a single mention of a person that died, it might be the reason why he never says anything about Leonard in his memoir.
It would be even fair to say that Leonard played a more important role in Sheldon’s life than even his father, since Leonard was the one to introduce Sheldon to his future group of friends that eventually changed him for the better.
With this kept in mind, it would come as something pretty obvious that Leonard’s possible death may have hit Sheldon even harder than George’s passing, hence why he was avoiding talking about his best friend while still trying to process his death.
