Heart-Wrenching Reason Johnny Depp Once Lost His Temper at Pirates of the Caribbean Set
Shooting a movie is often stressful and exhausting. It can bring the actors to the point of nervous exhaustion.
And Johnny Depp once lost his temper on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean (but for a good cause).
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is full of stunts and dangerous situations. Not many people know that Johnny Depp did not do stunts himself, he had a stuntman perform the very tricks that delighted the audience.
Tony Angelotti was Johnny Depp's stunt double for three films in the Pirates franchise.
During the filming of the second movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Tony suffered a serious injury that prevented him from performing difficult and dangerous stunts in the future.
In an interview with Metro, the stuntman recalled how Johnny Depp lost his temper while filming one of the scenes.
He said that they were filming a fight scene in the forge with Orlando Bloom when the actor playing Will apparently got confused, mixed up his movements, and hit Tony's eyebrow with the blade of the sword.
In the end, it was just a scratch, but if Orlando had hit a little harder, Tony would have suffered a pretty serious injury. The director wanted to go back to shooting right away, but it was Johnny who insisted that the stuntman be examined by a doctor.
"Johnny got up out of his chair, walked right over to this guy, and said, 'We're not doing a f****** thing until he gets looked at by the medic," Tony said.
The stuntman appreciated the actor's concern, even though the scratch was minor. This is not the first time Johnny Depp has been a champion for the people around him.
Fans remembered how the actor gave a bottle of champagne to a couple who had an anniversary.
"Yes, it was in January 2019 when Johnny was traveling with his team on a train and he gifted a blottle of champagne with a written letter on it to one couple...they had an anniversary. They also took some sweet photos together," Twitter user salveogvm recalled.
While Johnny Depp likely won't return as Captain Jack Sparrow, fans hope that now when the notorious lawsuit is over, the actor's career will go uphill and we'll see him on the big screen often again.
