Not only will the cast change not be a detriment to the show, but it will be canon to a certain extent, according to the comments.

The pain of The Witcher fans over the departure of main actor Henry Cavill, who plays the role of Geralt of Rivia, does not subside, which is not surprising, since the release of the season 3 is approaching, which will be the last for Cavill.

We have already heard the comments of the showrunner and some of the actors, but now the producers of the series Tomek Baginski and Steve Gaub decided to comment on the replacement of the main actor.

In an interview, Gaub revealed that the replacement of the actor will be "flawless" and even canonical – the change will be taken from Andrzej Sapkowski's books. Baginski commented:

“We have a very, very good plan to introduce our new Geralt and our new vision for Geralt with Liam. It's very lore accurate. It's very close to what was set out in the books.”

Henry Cavill leaves The Witcher after season 3. Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt of Rivia starting with season 4. Cavill is rumored to have left the project due to creative differences.

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich said it was time for Cavill to move on. The creators of The Witcher discussed the future of the series without Cavill for some time and decided that it could not be canceled.

As Hissrich noted, Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy books still have many stories to tell.

According to the plot of the third season, while the monarchs, wizards and monsters of the Сontinent compete for the right to possess Ciri, Geralt tries to hide her from everyone in order to protect his reunited family from those who want to destroy them.

Tasked with teaching Ciri magic, Yennefer leads them to Aretusa's stronghold, where she hopes to learn more about the girl's powers. Instead, the three find themselves at the epicenter of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal.

It is already known that the third season of The Witcher will be divided into two parts – the first part will be released on June 29, 2023 and the second part on July 27, 2023.
