You might find it hard to believe that Jonathan Lipnicki (the boy who played Ray in Jerry Maguire) actually quit acting after deciding he was no longer very good at it.

Not that he thought his acting alongside Tom Cruise was below par. It was later in life that he felt his acting was no longer up to scratch.

In an interview with Variety he explained how it was the "inherent childlike wonder" he possessed in his younger years that made him a good actor. And he says that this explains why so many children are so talented.

After making his acting debut in Jerry Maguire in 1996, Lipnicki went on to star in another seven movies over the next nine years – including The Little Vampire and Stuart Little.

Then, at the age of 15, he realised he was no longer happy with his performances.

So, he focused on studying acting as a craft, taking lessons and getting himself to a standard that he felt warranted a place in Hollywood. During this time, he made a few cameo appearances on TV but had no acting roles.

His return came in 2011 when he starred in the short film, Shark Pool before appearing alongside the likes of James Caan and Edward Furlong in the crime drama For the Love of Money.

And he's remained active ever since, appearing in a total of 21 films since his self-imposed exile from the world of acting. He's also been seen on reality TV shows on both sides of the Atlantic.

He took part in the UK show Celebs Go Dating and Worst Cooks in America.

He also appeared on Drop the Mic where he faced off against Danielle Fishel in an episode that also featured Shania Twain and a young Meghan Trainor.

Clearly, Jonathan Lipnicki is a man who understands what it's like to find fame as a kid.

He also knows what it's like to make a comeback, which inspired him to start a podcast along with WWE heroine Barbie Blank (Kelly Kelly) in which they chat to former celebs to find out what they're up to now.

Lipnicki is currently working on the short film Russ as well as The Re-Education of Molly Singer and Camp Pleasant Lake. So, you'll get to see plenty more of him now he's decided that he once again has what it takes to be a movie star.
