HBO Will Test Sitcom Waters With a Huge Star of The Office
It promises to be a wild ride.
From the truly iconic Curb Your Enthusiasm to Veep, HBO has always had a taste for a good comedy, but still fails to get the right image of a channel in the eyes of the audience. In people's minds, as the home of The Sopranos, Succession, Game of Thrones and Euphoria, HBO will forever remain a dark channel with nothing to laugh about.
Granted, the comedies that HBO produces are also full of sarcasm and dark humor, but they're still just as entertaining and hilarious as CBS's family-friendly sitcoms. Hopefully, with this new project that combines some legendary names in the sitcom field, the network will attract even more people looking for a good laugh.
What Is HBO’s New Steve Carell Show?
As of today, the details of what the final product will look like are very vague. The executives are keeping the potential audience in the dark about most things, but they are pointing out the fact that this new show will see a collaboration of two comedic geniuses, Bill Lawrence, who created Scrubs, and Steve Carell, known to viewers from The Office.
There is no need to explain the beauty of two well-known professionals working together, so fans of both are already expecting nothing but the best from the show. From what we know, the series will be set on a college campus and will follow a writer whose relationship with his daughter is crumbling due to various complications.
Whether Carell will portray the author himself or take on another role is not yet known. Another detail that remains under wraps is who will play the daughter. However, considering how early the show is in production, she could be cast at any moment.
Along with Matt Tarses as co-creator of this show, Bill Lawrence expressed his excitement about this project in an official statement:
“HBO has long been a standard bearer of quality TV. Getting to do a show there with Steve Carell is an immediate career highlight for Matt and me. Nothing can go wrong now,” he said.
Hopefully the producer is right and nothing will go wrong for a long time, as the show has only been ordered for 10 half-hour episodes to get the viewers hooked. We'll have to wait and see if the series will be continued or purged with other TV shows that didn't make it due to low ratings.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates on Steve Carell's new HBO series to make sure you do not miss out on the most important news and behind-the-scenes updates.
