Hated The Office's Season 9? Reddit Has a Perfect Alternative For You
Things were never the same after Michael Scott left.
Many fans of The Office have a hard time rewatching the final seasons knowing that the show's most iconic character, Michael Scott, is not there. But that's not the only problem fans have with the series finale. It turns out that other characters could have used some very different treatment from the showrunners.
If you have mixed feelings about the original season 9 of The Office, you might enjoy an alternate ninth chapter offered by Redditor Quaid28.
According to the Redditor, Jim and Pam should have taken a break after all the fighting, and after some time of trying to co-parent their child, they should have reconciled and then set up their life in Philadelphia.
Andy and Erin, on the other hand, should not have broken up. In fact, according to the fan, Andy should have definitely proposed to her and taken that job at Cornell. That way, Erin would finally get the family she never had, and Andy would get his dream job.
You know who else should have gotten married? Toby and Nelly. Finally, Toby will have someone close to him, and Nelly will become a mother. Dwight and Angela also end up together, but David Wallace promotes him to the position previously held by Jan and Ryan.
Meredith would be better off with a high-level executive position at a Fortune 500 company, while Oscar could have given up the office job to pursue a political career after being elected as a congressman.
The best thing about this alternate ending? It provides a perfect way to circle back to the beginning of the show.
"The final shot is with the permission from Dwight, Pam can grab the painting. So she enters in the offices and sees a whole new lineup of people and Plop and Clark are sitting in Jim and Dwight's old desks. Plop is flirting with the new receptionist and doing a prank on either Clark or they both do a prank to the regional manager," the Redditor concludes, noting that the regional manager could be portrayed by someone like Bob Odenkirk.
The Office aired on NBC from 2005 to 2013, wrapping up after nine seasons.
