Maybe we're just not cool enough for those words.

It's not so easy to express all the emotions your characters are supposed to have with words, because words can be very limited.

This is the reason why some fans would say that they enjoy the adaptations of the books more than the books themselves. This is true for all famous franchises, but especially for Harry Potter.

Fans of the franchise started a discussion on Reddit to get a list of phrases and sentences that were overused and didn't make much sense from time to time.

Quiz: Which Hogwarts Clique Would You Belong To?

No disrespect to J.K. Rowling, but it's no easy task to write so many stories with so few words without repeating yourself. But there was one line that drove many readers crazy.

"Harry answered coolly." This phrase was pointed out on topic by the user DandyCustard and got the most upvotes, making its way to a top answer.

It turns out that the only thing fans could ask for is for Harry to stop being so cool about everything and everyone he interacts with.

Harry Potter Fans Still Riled Up Over Controversial Miscast for a Key Role

There is no doubt that Harry Potter is so special that he deserves credit for always being cool, but the more those words were repeated on the pages, the fewer readers tended to believe it.

As one commenter jokes, there were just too many cool responses for anyone to concentrate on the conversation itself.

Although "cool" may be the most prominent of all, J. K. Rowling was not afraid to overuse her adverbs. Fans have also noticed how Dumbledore always speaks calmly to Harry, and how Neville simply says his replicas.

What was written out to explain the characters' emotions in the dialogue ended up being distracting and unnecessary.

Whether you found these lines funny or didn't notice them at all while reading, the Harry Potter books became a staple of everyone's childhood.

If you're more in the mood to re-watch the movies than read the books, you can stream all of them on HBO Max, Peacock, or FuboTV.
