Harry Potter, the PI: Fans’ Suspect List in Goblet of Fire Is Hilarious in Hindsight
Most Potterheads were… Unsuccessful at the detective part of The Goblet of Fire. These seven characters would have been surprised to learn they were suspected!
7. Igor Karkaroff
While the Durmstrang Headmaster was a pretty obvious red herring, with his being a former Death Eater and all, many fans read The Goblet of Fire when they were kids. Of course, the grumpy and Dark Arts-related professor was their prime suspect!
6. Severus Snape
At no point in the Harry Potter series was the time not right for some healthy daily dose of Snape suspicion. Like, it’s already been four installments; this time around, it was bound to be the hateful Potions Master, right? Harry’s thoughts exactly!
5. Lucius Malfoy
Between awakening the Basilisk, firing Hagrid, executing Buckbeak, and being a massive arsehole in general, Draco’s beloved father also acted weirdly at the start of this installment. He must have snuck his way into Hogwarts to mess with the Goblet!
4. Ludo Bagman
Ludo Bagman was acting suspicious since day one. He was a new shady character with direct access to the Goblet and the Tournament whose employees went “missing,” and the twins were obviously displeased with him… It was Ludo, alright?
3. Barty Crouch… Senior!
If anything, this guess was the most justified. Barty’s behavior at the Quidditch Cup and at Hogwarts was different, and he was clearly nervous; in the end, we learned that he was indeed involved with the plot, granted that it was only involuntarily.
2. Amos Diggory
The most bizarre suspicion we’ve heard so far, some fans really didn’t like Amos Diggory’s desire to make his son look better than Harry Potter. But making the young boy compete in a deadly game just to have Cedric defeat him?.. This would’ve been cold — and hilarious, we have to admit.
1. Peter Pettigrew
Now, this one was a very likely suspect. Peter Pettigrew has already been revealed as a Death Eater, and his sneaky Animagus form allowed him quick and easy access to anywhere, really. Harry also saw Wormtail in his vision about Voldemort, making Pettigrew one of the prime suspects on any PI Potterhead’s list.
