The global "potterization" of the world was something inevitable after J.K.Rowling published her book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 1997, and it became a smash hit immediately.

From that moment, the business part of it was really a gold mine and almost everybody wanted to make a living, coming up with different ideas on how to earn money using the brand.

So there goes all the movies, theme parks, foods, clothes, and the list goes on…

Still you should know that there could have been even more unexpected turns in that process. Something that for some reasons seemed weirder than even dirt-flavored jelly beans.

And that is… a Harry Potter musical, written by Michael Jackson.

Frankly, we don't know much about what it was going to be and what was the main idea of the potential musical. But maybe J.K.Rowling knew…

Because when she was approached with this offer, she immediately declined it. That's something we found out from the interview Rowling gave Oprah Winfrey.

When Oprah noted that "anything you can imagine in the world, it's been Potterized." "I can only say to you, it could be so much worse. For example, Michael Jackson wanted to do the musical ... I've said 'no' to a lot of things," she told Oprah.

But maybe Rowling missed something and shut down the wrong project? What if the King of Pop was about to make the best from the story of a boy who lived and put it all into the greatest songs?

Well, that's something we can only discuss on paper. But still, fans are sure that Harry Potter's author should have actually considered that musical option, as Jackson had a reputation to follow.

"Yeah in all seriousness, MJ's projects always ranged from good to great. I'm sure he could have done a great job," Reddit user anchorschmidt8 said.

Well, although we don't have the singing Harry on stage, we still can enjoy the unsurpassed classic in books. But maybe next time you reread it, try to do it in a way you sing a song.
