Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows 2 Actually Had 3 Different Endings For The Malfoys
Hold onto your wands as we could have had an entirely different finale.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 had everyone on the edge of their seats, saying goodbye to the beloved characters we had followed for years.
But did you know that the Malfoys, one of the key families in the series, actually had three different endings in the film?
In a 2011 interview with Vulture, Tom Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy, spilled the beans about these alternative endings.
Draco Malfoy had always been the villain in the series, and Tom Felton admits that playing the bad guy was a lot of fun. Villains have that special charm, after all. But as the story progressed, Draco's character started to evolve.
Draco eventually met a lovely girl who became his wife. And guess who portrayed his wife? Tom Felton's real-life girlfriend, Jade Olivia.
One of the most touching moments for Felton was the epilogue scene, where Draco and his wife see their children off to Hogwarts.
It was a bittersweet moment as it marked the end of an era for the cast. Felton even admitted that he had to walk off the set before he started crying because he didn't know how to say goodbye.
It's heartwarming to see the genuine bond they had after working together for so long.
In the final battle scene set in the Room of Requirement, Draco's ally, Crabbe, was notably absent. Jamie Waylett, the actor who portrayed Crabbe, had been written out of the series after a 2009 conviction for pot possession. While it was slightly weird shooting without him, Felton still found the scene fantastic.
Finally, let's talk about the fate of the Malfoy family in the film. In the book, they appear to switch sides during the climactic battle. However, the film took a slightly different approach.
According to Felton, they shot various scenarios to see which one would work best: Draco by himself, Narcissa and Draco by themselves, Lucius trampled by Death Eaters. In the end, they decided to have all the Malfoys walk away.
As we are about to dive into the magical world of Harry Potter again in the new TV adaptation in a couple of years, it's always great to hear behind-the-scenes stories like these from the good old days of the original franchise.
