Harrison Ford Punched Ryan Gosling in the Face, Has No Regrets About It
During the filming of Blade Runner 2049, Harrison Ford whacked the Barbie star right in the face, but what was the reason for that — and why isn’t he even sorry?
Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling are the two finest and most iconic actors of their respective generations (who funnily enough both presented their new movies in the past months). When this duo started working together on Blade Runner 2049, it was clear as day that the film would turn out phenomenal just because of these two, if anything.
However, admittedly, something went wrong on the set of Blade Runner, and Harrison Ford punched his co-star. This hit was not scripted, and Ryan Gosling didn’t expect to receive a blow in his face… While there was no conflict between the two, the whack was there, and Ford addressed it during his joint interview with Gosling…
…proving he’s a menace to society and the most brilliant accidental comedian, too.
“[Sacractically imitating the host] ‘Well, he punched you…’ Of course, I punched him! ‘But you weren’t meant to punch him!’ Oh, I…misread the script. We were doing a scene in flashing strobe lights where you have to make the punch look like it’s intended. But, eh…I hit him,” explained the Indiana Jones actor.
Admittedly, Ford tried to mend the fences by coming to Gosling later with a bottle of whiskey, but when the latter refused to share the drink with him, Harrison left and took the whiskey with him. He himself was injured after the incident, too!
“I went to [Ryan’s] dressing room, his palatial motor home, with a bottle of scotch in hand. He said, ‘I’m kind of busy now,’ and I went back to my trailer…with the rest of the bottle. I had the intention to leave it but…nah. My hand hurt: I needed some medicine,” shared Ford.
This is the most Harrison Ford story ever, and thankfully, it didn’t lead to a conflict with Ryan Gosling, at the end of the day. We could only guess that it was Ford’s charisma that made Gosling forgive his co-star for such an unorthodox lesson in old-school practical effects.
