Happy Father's Day? Not For Them: 5 Worst Dads in Marvel
These guys definitely don't win any "Father of the Year" awards.
When it comes to superheroes, family dynamics can be a big deal. Just last Sunday, the US celebrated Father's Day, so let's take a moment to remember some of those MCU dads who aren't exactly the warm and loving type.
Xu Wenwu (Mandarin)
First up on our list is Xu Wenwu, also known as the Mandarin. As the father of Shang-Chi, his legacy is one of manipulation and violence.
He tried to use Shang-Chi as a tool for his own ambitions. Xu Wenwu's obsession with power and immortality led him down a dark path, making him neglect and emotionally scar his own son.
General Dreykov
Next on the not-so-nice dad list is General Dreykov from Black Widow, the mastermind behind the Red Room program.
We don't have all the details on how Dreykov treated his daughter Antonia when she was a kid, but the guy went to extreme lengths to control her. He implanted a chip in her head, turning her into a mindless killing machine.
Bill Fisk
In the flashback moments in Netflix ’s Daredevil, we learn that Wilson Fisk’s father was treating his wife and son like trash.
Young Wilson finally had enough and took matters into his own hands, bashing his dad with a hammer. That abusive dad is the reason we have the infamous Kingpin today.
Even though the Netflix Marvel shows might not be officially connected to the MCU, it's hard to imagine Kingpin having a completely different backstory.
Ego
Ego, the living planet and father of Star-Lord, Peter Quill, might seem charming at first, but don’t let him fool you.
Ego used his own kids as tools for his power-hungry scheme. He killed thousands of his own children just to make himself stronger.
Thanos
Last but definitely not the least awful dad is Thanos, the Mad Titan. As the father of Gamora and Nebula, this guy takes the prize for being the worst of the worst.
Thanos put his daughters through unimaginable physical and emotional abuse, making them fight each other for his sick idea of power. Even though he somewhat loved Gamora, it didn’t stop him from throwing her off the cliff for the Soul Stone.
