Guy Ritchie’s Most Boring Movie Suddenly Takes Prime Video Top by Storm

Disappointingly, one movie in the director’s filmography stands out, but not in a good sense of being outstanding, which however, didn’t make the audience totally forget it. On the contrary, after a year since its flop, it’s now taking the eighth place in Prime Video ’s Global Top, gaining much viewers’ attention.

Now touching the genre of the spy action movies, Ritchie showcases a story about an in-demand operative called in by the British government for a mission to steal a mysterious object, becoming the movie’s central macguffin, before it’d be sold far away.

Quite a simple film’s fabula then gets complicated when the agent meets obstacles on his way in the face of a billionaire arms dealer. His surprisingly placed traps and the protagonist’s search for way outs from them make this caper movie a much cleverer roller coaster than it may seem in the beginning.

The film, though, gets severely criticized for its mix of the elements of the Ocean’s-like heists, Bourne-inspired action and, finally, spy action mimicking the Mission: Impossible franchise that is claimed to fail the quality test. That’s the main reason for this Ritchie’s feature’s low scores, including 51% critical acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nevertheless, it assembles the all-star cast, with the leading character, Orson Fortune, being portrayed by the hero of action thrillers, Jason Statham, who is joined by Aubrey Plaza, Cary Elwes, Josh Hartnett and The Gentlemen’s star Hugh Grant.

The topic here is the 2023 spy movie, titled Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, which grossed only $49 million, not even covering its budget of $50 million. It’s been called the most boring Ritchie’s movie, in which all tricks and jokes get literally explained, unlike the really humorous director’s works of the early 2000s, which were mentioned above.

According to the people’s judgment, even the cast can’t save the movie.
