The film has been criticized for being "too violent," but are such accusations justified?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a triumphant conclusion to James Gunn 's trilogy, with some even calling it the best MCU movie since Avengers: Endgame.

Whether that is true or not is subjective, but Vol. 3 is undoubtedly a pretty solid installment in the franchise, with everything a fan could want: great action, comedy, and even drama that can make you really emotional, which is quite rare for Marvel movies.

But it has received a surprising amount of criticism for an even more surprising reason: it is apparently too violent. Warning: minor spoiler alert.

It seems that quite a few moviegoers made the mistake of not paying attention to the rating of the movie, because "it is Marvel after all," and took their young children to the PG-13 rated movie.

So they were quite surprised to see things like the main villain getting his face ripped off (while the process wasn't shown in detail, the aftermath is shown later in all its gruesome glory), a character being burned to ashes and bones, and the first ever F-bomb in the MCU (which is absolutely hilarious in how unexpected it is).

This led to a number of negative reviews from disappointed parents, but is it really the movie's fault?

Absolutely not, say the fans, and we tend to agree with them.

The fact that most PG movies don't take full advantage of the ratings has created a false public perception of them, but it in no way excuses the fact that some parents seem to ignore the ratings.

Fans say that PG-13 movies don't have to be appropriate for young children, that's literally why the rating system exists in the first place, so pushing for such movies to be as tame and mild as possible would simply rob other viewers of potentially great scenes.

It is refreshing to see movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 every now and then, and maybe it will teach parents to pay attention to the ratings in the future.

After all, the upcoming R-rated Deadpool 3 is also a Marvel movie, but that doesn't automatically mean kids should see it.
