Grey’s Anatomy Fans Agree This Couple Is the Biggest Chemistry Fail in TV History
And no, it's not George and Izzie.
To say that Grey's Anatomy is about the everyday life of doctors is to oversimplify the content of the show. The range of topics extends from in-depth conversations about family, which can bring tears to the eyes of even the most unsympathetic viewer, to intense action scenes involving the return of patients from the afterlife.
At the same time, none of the genres presented in the show can be called secondary or minor – every aspect of the narrative is 100% worked out. If it is a romantic relationship, then the creators will show you every crisis that the couple faces.
The characters of Grey's Anatomy, in addition to their immediate duties, do not forget about their personal lives. They flirt at work, have affairs, fall in love and break up.
Grey's Anatomy Fans Named The Worst Couple on the Show
Now it's hard to count how many couples there have been on Grey's Anatomy, but it's easy to count those that fans still can't stand, and one of the champions in that ranking is Owen and Amelia.
“I never thought they were good for each other. Their situation was a sh*t show from the second it started and it just gets worse,” Reddit user boocn wrote.
Amelia & Owen Relationship Never Stood a Chance
Amelia and Owen shared the same experience and trauma, but that bond didn't give the couple an ounce of chemistry. Unfortunately, a relationship formed on a trauma bond rarely lasts, yet Amelia and Owen attempted (and failed) to be together.
Despite Amelia's initial wedding day blues, the couple married. They also established a family by fostering a baby boy named Leo. Amelia also takes in Betty, Leo's adolescent mother, and helps her stay clean. Unfortunately, their relationship did not survive when Betty left, and it ended shortly before Leo's adoption.
Even though they enjoyed fantastic times, the Owen & Amelia relationship's basis began to erode quickly. The show decided to rationalize their bad relationship by claiming that Amelia had a big brain tumor that was causing her long-term instability. But even after Amelia's tumor was removed, she and Owen stood no hope of surviving.
Amelia and Owen's relationship was perhaps the biggest emotional rollercoaster of the entire series, but in this case, such intensity did not attract fans, but only irritated them. And several years later, it seems that the show's creators and writers themselves regret their decision to bring these two characters together in the first place.
