There are far worse things you can do in a relationship than cheat.

After 19 years on the air, it's safe to say that Grey's Anatomy should not be held up as an example of how to build a strong and healthy romantic relationship.

Sure, viewers had their favorite couples like Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd or Mark Sloan and Lexie Grey, but the sad reality is that they were always far from ideal.

The drama, while undoubtedly good for the ratings, would be exhausting to experience in real life. At best, you would simply get tired of these relationships and leave them.

At worst, it could start a cycle of manipulation and abuse.

There is one couple, you might argue, that seems to stand out above the rest: Ben and Bailey. There were no affairs, no cheating, and no major scandals in their relationship to break the trust between them.

One breakup they had was nicely explained and was over as soon as Bailey decided she was ready to get back into the relationship. What more could you ask for?

Well, some fans think that underneath the pretty surface lies one of the most toxic relationships you could ever imagine.

"They need to communicate proactively. They both make huge sweeping decisions on their own and without regard for how they will affect the other (Ben changing careers, Bailey adopting Joey, Ben adopting Prue, etc).

Like those are HUGE decisions they need to be making together instead of just trying to do damage control after the fact," Redditor said, giving just a few examples of how bad Ben and Bailey's communication skills really are.

While cheating is terrible, the kind of lies that can affect not only your relationships as a couple, but the lives of others, can have far worse consequences.

Adoption, such a serious topic, being treated in such a frivolous manner made viewers wonder if Ben and Bailey were ready for any commitment at all.

If you are interested in seeing if this couple can redeem themselves in the eyes of the audience, tune in to ABC on Thursdays to not miss a new episode of Grey's Anatomy.
