The Game of Thrones prequel is all about the rivalry between the two teams, but should it be?

The House of Dragon fandom has quickly split into two teams: those who support Rhaenyra Targaryen and the Blacks, and those who support Alicent Hightower and the Greens. It's almost impossible not to pick a side, but even if you do, it's a challenge to root for your chosen characters all the time, because sometimes they do terrible things – from indulging in someone's foot fetish to committing war crimes.

According to Redditor Fabfabb16, such division kills all the fun of the show. While it's okay to root for someone in the show, it becomes a problem when even the slightest criticism causes anger and venom from both camps.

"I've never see something like "Team green" or "Team black" use so much misogyny, racism, supremacy or elitism. It's getting tiring at the end of the day. No one can applaud or criticize anyone in the DOD without these two teams tearing you down, shredding you to pieces for a comment you make. It's just a show. Go touch grass," the Redditor said.

Despite the showrunners' firm stance that their characters are morally gray, and the show's lack of explicitly taking sides, the fandom is still divided. The majority of fans side with Rhaenyra and her team, viewing the Greens as the ultimate villains, even though both teams have done horrible and despicable things.

"Someone will write a really good post that's pro someone on green or talking slightly negatively on team black and it gets downvoted and shat on when it's actually a really good take on something. It's fine to have a team and to support someone more than another but it shouldnt influence everything you do on that subject," Redditor RainbowPenguin1000 noted.

Well, guess what – the Dance of the Dragons hasn't even officially started yet. Season 2 will see the Black and Green lock horns in a violent Targaryen civil war that was basically started by the Green's Aemond, who accidentally killed Rhaenyra's son Lucerys and his dragon Arrax.

House of the Dragon Season 2 is scheduled to begin filming in March, with HBO announcing the premiere date at a later date.
