Great Update for Chicago Fire S12: Guess Who's Back?
Lo and behold, Chicago Fire fans: someone very important officially returns to your favorite show for Season 12!
Chicago Fire, much like its sister shows (PD & Med), has had a great run throughout the past years. Fans are incredibly immersed in the drama between the characters, but in the case of Chicago Fire, even more so — especially since there are quite a few fan favorites whose "temporary" absence in the show doesn't seem to have an expiration date.
All of these worries were, however, put on hold this spring, as did everything else One Chicago- related: with the beginning of the Writer's Guild's strike, Hollywood came to a complete stall, and for several months, no work was being done whatsoever. The situation only worsened as the Actor's Guild joined in on the strike.
As the Alliance of Producers kept ignoring the problem, it quickly became obvious that most shows wouldn't get their new seasons ready in time for 2023's fall. This season, we're definitely not having any more Stella Kidd action — and we won't learn what's up with good old Severide, either. But! There's a big but here.
One Chicago's writers are finally coming back to work as the Writer's Guild's strike ended with a new agreement with the Alliance of Producers. What does this mean?
First and foremost, it obviously means that work on Chicago Fire, Med, and PD's new seasons will continue immediately. Unlike some other shows, Wolf's franchises are immediately returning to action, and we can only assume that this week, the first scripts for One Chicago shows are already being actively drafted.
Second, this news gives us hope for an update regarding the release date of the new seasons. Chicago Fire and its sister shows might even hit the screens in spring 2024 if the Actor's Guild's strike doesn't go into winter, so that's pretty exciting. These shows are famous for their pretty quick production timings, so there's hope.
And finally, seeing how the joint strike gave (and keeps giving) more delays to the production, there's also hope that maybe — just maybe — some long-anticipated stars might come back. In the case of Chicago Fire, for one, we're all eagerly awaiting news about Kelly Severide who might come back if not in S12 then in S13.
Who knows, maybe next time we ask you to guess who's back, it will be him!
