Max has just premiered The Pitt, a medical drama in which each episode is devoted to one hour of a 15-hour shift. The show is directed by R. Scott Gemmill, who previously worked on another show about doctors, ER.

Things are never quiet at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Dr. Michael Rabinavitch rushes into the ER one morning to find that the residents will be working with him that day.
Soon, the excited residents are faced with the realities of medical practice: some faint at the sight of a serious injury, while others learn the hard way that they can't save everyone.
The Show Introduces Viewers to a Variety of Characters at Once Without Slowing Down
Residents, interns, nurses – the viewer immediately gets to know the many employees of the department. Colleagues of different character, experience and confidence are constantly on the move: the hospital lobby is crowded with people waiting for their turn for hours.
At the center of the hustle and bustle is the head of the department, Rabinavitch, or simply Robby, who has the main features of a screen doctor. He is a closed and, it seems, deeply lonely man who is able to make a diagnosis and impress his colleagues in a short time.
Without revealing many details of the character's biography, the scriptwriters manage to draw important strokes of the portrait in two episodes: a difficult character, a baggage of psychological problems and total dedication to the profession – we have a classic hero of a medical drama.
The Pitt Is One of the First Medical Shows to Address COVID
The reasons for Robby's mental problems are explained through flashbacks. Four years ago, the COVID happened, the consequences of which for medical workers have not yet been fully revealed in the cinema.
The Pitt is likely to be one of the first to touch on society's unhealed wound and reflect on the recent pandemic from a doctor's point of view.

The main feature of the series is that each episode is a separate hour of a shift. In the first two episodes, we see the doctors from 7 to 9 in the morning.
It's amazing how much can happen in that time: young parents worry about their son who won't wake up, a triathlete in his prime suddenly finds himself on the brink of life and death, and rats come to the hospital along with a homeless man.
In addition to their work, the department's staff forms professional relationships: everyone knows that without personal drama, a medical procedural cannot hold an audience. For now, most of the characters remain a mystery, but the show is just getting started.
