GotG 3 End-Credit Scene Reveals Shocking Truth About Star-Lord
The MCU is a vast and complicated franchise that has spanned over a decade. The latest addition to this cinematic universe was Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, which had fans on the edge of their seats.
The movie is already a massive success, having grossed over $500 million at the box office. But fans are eagerly awaiting an explanation for the final scene, and a Reddit theory may provide one.
There was more than one post-credits scene at the end of Volume 3, but it was the last one that got the most attention. Peter finally meets his grandfather after a long time.
Many people thought the moment was cute, but it didn't make much sense.
However, Redditor XDrDeadeye notes that this particular moment could mean that Peter will get his Celestial powers back, as the caption at the end announces: Star-Lord (not Quill) will return.
The user notes that the Eternals movie brought a lot of concepts to the MCU.
Even though Peter's father told him at the end of Volume 2 that if he killed him, he would lose all of his divine powers, XDrDeadeye thinks it was just the sick fantasy of a psychopath who feared death and begged for mercy.
"Peter was the only one out of millions who actually inherited his father's god-like powers, and you're telling me that all of that goes away because Peter's father says it will?" the theory's author says .
The core of the idea is that Peter will get his powers back and go on an adventure to find himself.
Maybe he'll become part of the Eternal Team, or maybe Nebula will join him (definitely not Gamora or Drax, since Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista have said they don't plan on returning to those roles anytime soon).
Let's not forget of Eros, who appeared at the end of Eternals.
The character played by Harry Styles is the brother of Thanos, according to comic book lore. He could be the next target of Nebula, who may want to seek revenge on everyone connected to her Titan father.
Such a storyline would not only connect the beloved Guardians of the Galaxy characters, but also Star Lord and the Blue Cyborg. James Gunn definitely tried to give Nebula a love interest in his last movie.
However, many fans are skeptical of the theory.
"I don't think it's ambiguous as to what it means. He will return. Star Lord is going to be in a future MCU project. The rest is just speculation, and trying to apply logic to how Quill's powers work is not productive," Redditor aBigBagofChipz said.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 credits scene left viewers with plenty to speculate about. MCU fans have always been known for their detective skills.
So maybe someone will guess the meaning of these hints left by James Gunn, although it may just turn out to be a happy family life scene for a nice ending to the trilogy.
