She had the strong storyline in the books, but the showrunners completely destroyed the personality.

Game of Thrones is a popular television series that has managed to capture the attention of millions of viewers around the world.

The show is known for its complex relationships, unpredictable plot twists, and intense action scenes. Of course, characters were just as important, even though not all of them were particularly good.

Sometimes, in order to be a bad character, one doesn't need to go full Joffrey Baratheon mode. In fact, it's enough to simply get butchered by the showrunners.

That's how one character turned out to be even more controversial than the two pricks Joffrey and Ramsay — Catelyn Stark.

The Lady of Winterfell and mother of the King in the North is portrayed as a strong-willed and fiercely protective parent who will do anything to protect her family.

However, some fans have criticized her actions, claiming that she is a weak and ineffective character.

One of the most controversial moments involving Catelyn Stark occurred in season 3, when she made the ill-advised decision to release Jaime Lannister, a prisoner of war and one of the show's main antagonists.

This led to dire consequences for her kin, as Jaime escaped and returned to his family, which then used the opportunity to launch a devastating attack on the Starks.

Another reason fans dislike Catelyn is her treatment of Jon Snow, Ned's illegitimate son.

Lady Stark never accepted the future Targaryen as part of the family and even went so far as to blame him for her husband's infidelity.

It is worth noting that while Catelyn was well-developed in the book, she did not seem to be an important character.

Perhaps the screenwriters cut her storyline out of the series early on, but in the TV adaptation, Lady Stark seemed rather dull and irrelevant.

With Tyrion's kidnapping, her character began to raise questions, and the shocking Red Wedding ended her storyline, which didn't really upset fans.

Of course, Lady Stark certainly wasn't as horrible as Joffrey, Ramsay, or Jaime of the early seasons. But still, these repulsive antagonists at least had a distinct character that was interesting to watch.

The audience followed their development, while Catelyn seemed very bland from the start.

Isn't that even worse than being a villain?
