We get you, social's intern, it was the only right thing to do. XOXO.

Not everything should be rebooted, that's one lesson that should be learned from the miserable failure of Gossip Girl.

There were many reasons leading up to it: the show was deemed too political, too "woke," and too lazy compared to the original.

Besides, with the original show ending in 2012, many thought it was just too soon to bring the idea back.

No matter the reasons, Gossip Girl reboot wasn't around for long: it was canceled after two seasons, with most of the internet celebrating this fact, rather than boohooing HBO for its decision.

Even with season 2 getting a bit better reviews from both viewers and critics, it did not change the reboot's perception.

As of now, it seems like everyone has forgotten about the fact that Gossip Girl 2.0 has ever existed.

The vast majority of discussions in fan spaces on social media continue to revolve around the original characters, and new ones come up in conversations almost exclusively as memes.

What's even funnier is: looks like official Gossip Girl accounts are ready to move on and forget about their mistakes as well.

Recently fans noticed a change in the cover of the official Gossip Girl page on Facebook. The update brings back the iconic original cast, clearly stating what exactly they want to be seen as their brand.

Fans greeted this change with a smirk, understanding, however, that this was nothing more than a smart marketing move.

"This just makes sense," Redditor NickiTheNinja said. "The original is more Iconic. Penn Badgley and Chase Crawford both have extremely popular shows at the moment.

I haven't seen any of the reboot actors talk about their experience on the show positively, and a premature cancellation is probably not the legacy that the Gossip Girl brand wants front and center".

If you are feeling nostalgic, you can watch the original Gossip Girl series on HBO Max, Prime Video, Vudu, or Apple TV.

You can also check out You and The Boys if you want to see Penn Badgley and Chase Crawford in action in their respective roles.
