Double David Tennant, double the fun.

  • Good Omens is an Amazon Prime Video television series based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
  • The show focuses on the journey that the demon Crowley (David Tennant) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) take together to save humanity.
  • While fans are waiting for news about season 3, David Tennant is back as the Doctor in Doctor Who, and viewers already notice many similarities.

While the fate of Good Omens season 3 remains unclear, fans of the story of the snarky demon and the naive angel continue to get the crumbs of content with their favorites elsewhere. After all, the fandom is not new to the waiting game, as there was a 4-year hiatus between the first two seasons.

Besides, now might be the perfect time for the hiatus, as one of the stars of the show, David Tennant, who portrayed Crowley, has many other things on his plate. Most notably, he has returned to his role as the Doctor for the most popular British sci-fi show, Doctor Who.

Although this Doctor has been billed as the new 14th incarnation, the majority of fans still read him as the 10th Doctor. Together with the 10th Doctor's companion Donna Noble, played by Catherine Tate, he will stay for three special episodes to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who on the screen.

Since the chapter The Star Beast already aired on November 25th, the Internet had plenty of time to practice its meme-making skills. And as expected, the best David Tennant memes came from those who love him twice as much.

From the very first frame, Doctor Who showed its fans that no amount of Disney money would change the way they edit the show. The image of the somber Doctor standing against a starry background was far too similar to the image from the second season of Good Omens to just let it go.

Not only that particular frame, but the new TARDIS interior, white, clean and spacious, reminded viewers of Good Omens of something very similar. This is exactly how Neil Gaiman visualized Heaven on the set of the show. A little less round, perhaps, but the resemblance is still uncanny.

It gets even better, though, as there are far more similarities between Crowley and the 14th Doctor than anyone could have ever imagined. As user X (formerly known as Twitter) correctly noted in his post:

“if i had a nickel for every time the fandom of a david tennant led piece of media made a theory related to coffee about a character being controlled by someone more powerful and conniving i’d have two nickels. which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?”

If that's the amount of content that one single special has given the fandom, we can only imagine how much more will come as the next two chapters of Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary are released.

Stay tuned to Disney Plus on December 2 and December 9 to make sure you don't miss a thing.
