Gold Rush Curse Strikes Again: Fans Label Season 13 as Dull and Repetitive
Fans say that Season 13 of Gold Rush is so boring that they can't help but skip episodes and even stop watching altogether.
Discovery's Gold Rush, which follows the family mining companies in their search for gold, is currently in its 13th season, and fans are sure that this is the worst season yet.
It is so repetitive and dull that many think it might be time to give up on the show.
"Turned to my wife a few weeks ago and said I may be done with this show finally. Been watching since the beginning," one of the fans wrote on Reddit.
Those who continue to tune in each week admit that they have to fast-forward or even skip entire episodes to avoid dying of boredom. And it doesn't even interfere with their understanding of the plot.
"It's definitely over the top, I can skip three episodes and not have the feeling I'm missing something," a fan explained.
Episode after episode, fans take to social media to express their frustration with Gold Rush. Unique and interesting for the first few seasons, the show seems to have gone stale.
Instead of showing interesting things about actual mining, it has become soapy. Fans feel that the quality has taken a nosedive, and one of the biggest problems is the cast.
While many viewers enjoy the scenes with Parker Schnabel and Tony Beets' crews, they couldn't care less about the Claytons, and Fred Lewis seems to be the most hated miner on the show.
His mining operation has zero value, and the constant drama with stupid decisions has the fans "fred-up".
"I look forward to commercials when watching Fred's crew," one of the fans commented.
Fans think the show's writers have written themselves into a corner. Without mining disasters, malfunctions, and breakdowns, the show loses its edge, but viewers really hate the crews who create the action by having said disasters because they feel inept.
In other words, viewers have gotten used to mining without problems, which can be quite monotonous but results in a large amount of gold being produced, and hate the drama that happens thanks to the unprofessionalism of Fred and Claytons' crews.
It puts the show in a lose-lose situation. And now there seems to be no way to keep every season from being "the most boring season ever".
