HBO's Head of Drama gave a worrying update on the current status of Game of Thrones spin-offs, including the much-anticipated Jon Snow solo series.

Game of Thrones has managed to maintain its titles as the most viewed, the most pirated, and the most discussed show over the course of several years.

After its finale, fans immediately began requesting prequels and spin-offs — and the HBO management immediately started planning all sorts of those to keep up.

So far, the only prequel series that's come out is House of the Dragon, and it's a great show.

Still, neither the audience nor HBO plans to stop at just one new series: the world created by George Martin has vast territories and long detailed history, and there can be no rest for the wicked until it's properly and thoroughly explored.

While HBO has had many ideas for new shows based in GRRM's world, the fans have shown particular interest in two of them: The Hedge Knight, a story of Dunk and Egg, and SNOW, a spin-off about Jon Snow's adventures on the Far North.

Recently, HBO's Head of Drama Francesca Orsi gave us updates regarding both these shows — and while The Hedge Knight is doing well, things don't look particularly promising for SNOW.

"George is continuing to think about the remaining novellas that he still wants to write but at this point, we have our eye on three seasons [of The Hedge Knight] that would map out each book, each novella," said Francesca Orsi while also pointing out that HBO is ready to expand the series if GRRM expands the source material, the Tales.

When it comes to SNOW, however, there are no definitive answers.

'It's so new and nascent, we don't even have many scripts. <...> We're just working deeply with the writers to get it in shape for potential greenlight, but at this point, no, no determination on whether it can go all the way," explained HBO's Head of Drama.

It seems like we'll have to wait some more until we learn for sure whether SNOW will actually happen; until then, it's still nice to know that the writers and executives are actively working on potential ideas.

After all, even if they flesh out a great idea for Jon Snow's spin-off, the question of whether Kit Harington would be interested still stands.
