Paris Geller went from hated to loved twice or thrice during her time on Gilmore Girls, but this unnecessary storyline just destroyed this character in the fans’ eyes.

Once Rory’s fiercest bully, Paris has slowly grown to become so much more – a better and calmer person, a confident woman, and a great friend to Rory. However, viewers still can’t forgive Paris for what she did to Jamie, her first boyfriend.

If your memory fails you, Jamie is the guy Paris meets during her summer in Washington DC, and they fall for each other immediately. Even though Jamie is a year older and already a college student, he sees Paris like none has seen her before, and their beginnings are just the sweetest.

Paris even trusts Jamie enough to lose her virginity to him in Gilmore Girls season 3. The couple stays together for about a year, and they have their good and bad moments (like anyone else) until everything falls apart in season 4.

Once Paris gets into Yale – after surviving the rejection from Harvard – she meets Professor Asher Fleming and falls head over heels for him. Even though Paris is still technically with Jamie, she begins a relationship with Fleming (and that’s problematic on a whole different level).

Jamie has been nothing but a supportive boyfriend to Paris through thick and thin, and yet she strings him along for a while before breaking his heart in the worst possible way. Jamie deserved so much better than this.

Not only has Paris cheated on her wonderful age-appropriate boyfriend (repeatedly!), but she has also chosen an old creepy guy who has used young impressionable female students to his advantage for years over Jamie! We don’t know about you, but we’ve never hated Paris more than we did back in season 4.

Paris a great example of a complex character who has had immense development over the seasons… until the Gilmore Girls writers just dumped it all down the drain with the cheating storyline. This was just plain wrong. The icing on this horrible cake is that Paris broke up with Jamie on his birthday! Who even does that?
