They were our favorite to watch too!

Even when we’re watching sitcoms, there has to be just enough drama to keep us hooked and interested. Luckily, Gilmore Girls had it all: from family feud to constant romantic failures, both Lorelai and Rory could not catch a breath throughout all seven seasons of the show. And this intensity is exactly why the series was (and still is) so loved.

Turns out, the scenes of conflict were not only the viewers’ favorites, but also the actors’ favorites as well. As one can imagine, filming a heated argument is hard as it is, but it may get even harder if you’re required to deliver your lines in a sped up manner to fit all 80 pages of the script in a 40-minute episode.

However, Lauren Graham, who portrayed Lorelai Gilmore in the series, loved every second of it. In fact, during the Q&A session to promote her debut novel, “Someday, Someday, Maybe”, the actress shared that her favorite scenes to shoot were the Friday Night Dinners that Gilmores had at her parents’.

Although these dinners were hard for her character to sit through, for the actress they were an opportunity to act opposite her closest cast mates. Graham admitted she found the most joy in her on-screen mother, Emily’s, who was portrayed by Kelly Bishop, anger.

One detail that fans would also be interested in finding out, one part that Lauren Graham didn’t enjoy about such scenes, was… the dinner itself.

The props’ managers might’ve made it appealing on screen, but in reality it was terrible. Considering the fact that due to the hardships actors faced with dialogues the scenes could take up to 20 takes, one can only imagine how many unpleasant bites were taken during that time. Luckily, that didn’t make the memories of the experience any worse for the actress.

If you want to rewatch Gilmore Girls and enjoy the chaos and the drama of Friday Night Dinners, you can go ahead and stream the series on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
