Gilmore Girls: 3 Times We Wanted to Slap Rory & 3 Times We Felt Bad for Her
Rory Gilmore is the one character that has the Gilmore Girls fandom completely divided.
Let’s remember some of Rory’s best and worst moments on the show, shall we?
Slap Her: When She Sleeps with Dean
Sure, Dean is in the wrong here because he is the one who is a married man. It’s horrible that he cheats on Lindsay with Rory, but this is not about him. Rory, who prides herself on being the good girl, doesn’t see anything wrong with what they have both done!
Not only does she lose her virginity to her ex-boyfriend, but she also basically uses the “I was there first” argument as an excuse for her actions. That girl needs a good ol’ slap across the face to come to her senses!
Hug Her: When Logan Cheats on Her
Karma is a witch, and the topic of whether Logan cheated on Rory or not is heavily debated, but still, it’s hard not to feel for the girl. Rory has always been more of the relationshipy type – even the bad buys have turned into romantic heroes for her, and Logan has too… eventually.
However, seeing Rory realize that Logan has been sleeping around during their break (break-up) is just too much. We want to give her a hug every time!
Slap Her: The Entirety of A Year in the Life
Only God knows what is going on with Rory in the revival miniseries, but whatever it is, we absolutely hate it. The character has gone from moderately annoying at times to a complete jerk just like that.
Rory keeps forgetting about her boyfriend of two years, cheats on him with Logan (who is engaged, by the way), ends up pregnant… The list can go on. That’s not our Rory.
Hug Her: When Sherry Guilt-Trips Her
Christopher’s ex-wife is a handful – she is blunt, immature, and kind of selfish. When she is about to give birth to Gigi, and Christopher can’t be there, Sherry just decides that the best thing to do is to ask her baby daddy’s teenage daughter to be with her in the delivery room.
Not her parents, friends, or literally anyone else, but Rory. The poor kid feels so awkward and scared that she even phones her mom.
Slap Her: When She Misses Lorelai’s Graduation
Lorelai is always there for Rory through thick and thin, and we can’t even imagine her not coming to support her daughter at one of the Chilton events. Yet, Rory does the most frustratingly teenager thing ever and runs away with Jess instead of supporting her mom at her graduation ceremony. This plot twist has rubbed many fans the wrong way, and it’s easy to see why.
Hug Her: When She Doesn’t Fit In at Chilton
Rory and Paris do eventually become the bestest of friends, but their road to besties is a bumpy one. When Rory first gets into Chilton, Paris goes out of her way to make her new classmate’s life as miserable as possible.
She gives Rory horrible news story assignments, makes fun of her in class, and generally behaves like a total bully because she is intimidated by the new competition. Rory is having a hard time, and we feel sorry for her!
