And the actress herself admitted that it’s funny.

Summary:

  • Actress Gillian Anderson, famous for her breakout role in sci-fi drama series The X-Files, has always been against going back to her iconic character in any kind of remakes, but recently she has changed her mind.
  • The actress revealed that she would agree to reappear as Dana Scully only if one particular director was set to make the reboot.
  • The X-Files initially brought Gillian Anderson to her A-status in Hollywood, but before being cast she also faced some difficulties with the executives.

The iconic sci-fi series from the 1990s may be back — and its main actress doesn’t say no to reappearing in it yet. While there are circulating rumors about a potential reboot for The X-Files, Gillian Anderson doesn’t seem to mind coming back to her most famous role, but on one specific condition.

Talking on TODAY show about her brand new drama Scoop that follows the story of a scandalous interview with Prince Andrew, Anderson revealed that she in fact had heard a lot about The X-Files possible revival.

The actress was never interested in reprising her role in the iconic show before, but now, as she admitted by calling the whole situation funny, Anderson would be glad to become Dana Scully once again if one particular director made the reboot.

Thus, if it’s Ryan Coogler, who is famous for his directorial work on Black Panther, we’ll most likely see Gillian Anderson back on the screen portraying her skeptical detective yet again.

According to the actress herself, she finds Coogler “a bit of a genius” and can’t even imagine a better director for The X-Files new version. Anderson also expressed her certainty in the reboot’s success if Coogler eventually takes it all in his hands -- and then she may “pop in for a little somethin' somethin’”.

The X-Files had its run from 1993 to 2002 and became one of the most-watched criminal shows of the 1990s and the early 2000s. The series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents who take up especially mysterious unsolved crime cases and carry out their own investigation.

One of Gillian Anderson’s recent interviews also unveiled that she could’ve never become a part of the iconic show due to the executives’ skepticism about her “sex appeal” and the fact that she was an unknown actress at that time, just like her series colleague David Duchovny.

Eventually both managed to land their roles in the show that later brought them to international fame.
