In the years that followed, he only solidified his status by appearing in several more acclaimed films such as Black Panther (2018), Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), and Nope (2022), delivering equally impressive performances.
Kaluuya Chose To Stay Away From Lesser-Known Colleagues
However, it seems that after achieving so much, Kaluuya has begun to distance himself from his less fortunate colleagues, as it would cost him "a certain level of fame and power," which the actor mentioned in his interview with GQ.
He recalled an offer to appear in an undisclosed fashion campaign alongside two lesser-known white actors, which he had to turn down because it wouldn't "look good" unless he was alone.
The actor empathized that it's not because he's too "cool" for it, but rather because he's conscious about "representing right" and that not all money is worth it, so he's very picky about taking jobs.

In addition, he pointed out that he wants to do great things and help people in as many ways as possible by bringing jobs and helping everyone grow artistically, but he will never "shrink" himself just to be polite.
Fans Not Okay With Kaluuya’s Stance
Fans are quite disappointed with the actor's statements, because even aside from the racial connotation, which was most likely unintentional, they say he sounds pretty arrogant and full of himself.

Kaluuya's reasoning seems rather incoherent to them, because while he explicitly stated that he doesn't feel better than the others, the rest of his statements make it seem like he believes that sharing the spotlight with those who are less successful is demeaning to him.
The vague nature of the way he explains his ideas doesn't really help, as it still comes off as quite egotistical, fans say, as all of this could have been said in a much more measured way.
