General Hospital’s Maurice Benard’s Pairing of Choice for Sonny Is Not What You Expect

One of the things that viewers tend to love about General Hospital, aside from the longevity of the soap as a whole, is the way that the actors stick around for many years, giving their characters proper development. However, when it comes to those who have been on the show for decades, the question of retirement inevitably comes up.
Luckily for all those who love Sonny Corinthos and think he is synonymous with General Hospital at this point, Maurice Benard is not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, the actor has a few things in mind that could make Sonny's General Hospital journey a little more exciting.
General Hospital Sonny’s Love Interest
When it comes to any soap, viewers know that the majority of the drama comes with either crime or romance. Throughout Sonny's 30-year journey, the mobster has had his fair share of both, but right now the show seems to be lacking in both departments.
Sonny's love life has been non-existent since he filed for divorce from Nina, and his criminal side has lost much of its appeal with age. Now, many fans find it hard to believe that he threatens anyone, which leads to a lack of immersion.
To keep the ratings from plummeting further and to keep Sonny in the spotlight, General Hospital may have to come up with a new romantic interest for him. And the viewers already have their eye on one lady in particular.
As one viewer suggested, the show could take a turn and have Sonny and Anna have some sort of affair with each other. Benard's chemistry with Anna's actress, Finola Hughes, is already unmatched, and the actor is all for it, even reposting the suggestion.
Since Finola Hughes has already mentioned that she is up for this pairing, and since fans have been waiting for it for years, it is only fair to give people what they want. Even though Anna is not on the best terms with Sonny right now, the enemies-to-lovers trope always makes for great romance.
