From daily struggles to becoming the longest-running serial produced in Hollywood.

It's hard to believe that a show has been on the air for 60 full years and still counting.

With more than 15,000 episodes, General Hospital celebrated a huge anniversary on April 1, 2023, making fans remember the very beginning.

With the amount of production that General Hospital has today, no one would think that they started out struggling, even with the most basic things.

However, according to John Beradino and his heartwarming speech for the show's 30th anniversary back in 1993, the team and cast had to overcome quite a few hardships to make it possible.

Two dressing rooms, one for men and one for women, only 30 minutes of airtime, and no costume design at all – that was how General Hospital began, and how the public fell in love with it.

Over time, it has been proven that even dressed in their own clothes, with only medical uniforms available on the set, the characters all stand out and find their way into the hearts of the viewers.

Although today's show faces several controversies, mainly involving the lack of fresh storylines and repetitive plots, there are still thousands of fans who tune in to General Hospital every weekday.

Through many changes, including major recasts, the team has managed to preserve the essence of what they had in the beginning to keep people watching.

Some do so purely for nostalgia, while others genuinely care about the characters they have grown to love.

Either way, the promise the fanbase made to John Beradino 30 years ago has been successfully fulfilled: people have stayed and watched the show for another 30 years. Whether there will be another 30 years to add, only time will tell.

If you're up for the challenge, be sure to tune in to ABC every weekday to make sure you don't miss any of the storylines the show has to offer.
