Amber Tamblyn has been acting in movies and TV series since she was a child, but now she is known for more than just her acting career.

Amber Rose Tamblyn was born on May 13, 1983 in Santa Monica to an artistic family. Her father, Russ Tamblyn, is an actor, dancer and singer, and her mother, Bonnie Murray, is a singer, artist and teacher.

Amber first appeared on stage at the age of ten. She played Pippi Longstocking in a play based on Astrid Lindgren's story of the same name.

Her father's agent, Sharon Debord, was at the play and later convinced Tamblyn to let Amber go to the audition.

Amber's debut on television took place in 1995 in the famous TV series General Hospital, which has been on television since 1963.

Amber played the role of Emily Bowen until 2001. In the same 1995, Amber first appeared in the movie Live Nude Girls. In 2002, Amber Tamblyn starred in a remake of the Japanese horror film The Ring.

Another horror film in which she starred, The Grudge 2, was her first film to reach number one at the US box office.

The actress gained professional recognition for her role as Joan Girardi, a teenage girl who receives divine visions, in the dramatic miniseries Joan of Arcadia on CBS, the show aired from 2003-2005.

Amber got her first big movie role in 2005, it was the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in which she starred with Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Blake Lively.

In 2009, Amber landed her first adult role as an NYPD homicide detective in the television series The Unusuals. The police drama received critical acclaim, but the show was canceled after its first season.

In 2009, Tamblyn co-starred with Michael Douglas in Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. In 2010, the drama Main Street was released, starring Orlando Bloom and Colin Firth as Amber's co-stars.

The actress also has guest-starred on such hit shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and CSI: Miami.

In the fall of 2010, she appeared in several episodes of the seventh season of House, M. D. Recently, she has appeared in such projects as Y:The Last Man and the comedy You Hurt My Feelings.

Amber Tamblyn is a multi-talented person, but poetry is her particular passion. In addition to regular publications in various newspapers and magazines, she has independently published poetry collections such as Of the Dawn and Plenty of Ships.
