This is getting ridiculous.

Even though General Hospital has been on the air for more than 60 years, the show doesn't seem to be running out of ideas. If anything, fans believe that the show has the potential to add even more stories to the storyline. However, many of their suggestions go unheeded as the writers continue to push their narrative.

For many decades, the soap has been good at portraying large families and the dynamics within them. Port Charles lives and breathes family drama, but not all characters are offered the same terms when it comes to it.

While some get new characters introduced just for the sake of having more connections to the world, others lose connections to characters that already exist.

What Happened Between Trina and Portia on General Hospital?

Throughout the years on General Hospital, Porta's relationship with her daughter Trina went through many changes, partly due to changes in their respective personal lives. As is often the case with mothers and daughters, the conflicts were not easy to resolve, but that made the dynamic all the more interesting.

There would be no soap without drama, right? Well, all problems have to have some limits. Looking at the way Portia and Trina communicate today, one would think that the mother-daughter relationship is now beyond repair.

Of course, nothing happened between mother and daughter that would keep them 5 months apart, and General Hospital continues to feed viewers with ideas of scenes between Portia and Trina happening behind the camera. But even when they appear in the same episode, nothing happens... again.

This is upsetting to see, not only because of how little screen time Black actors generally get on soaps these days, but even more so because of the traumatic loss Trina just went through. No matter how hard the writers try to sweep Spencer Cassadine's death under the rug, viewers who have loved the character for so long still remember.

There is an easy solution to this problem, as fans of Trina would probably appreciate even the shortest, most meaningful scene at this point. For now, however, Trina seems to remain a sidekick to Joss while Portia roams the streets of Port Charles for no reason at all.

If you want to see if things will change soon enough, you can tune in to General Hospital Monday through Friday on ABC.
