General Hospital Needs to Get Actual Teens for Pointless Drama, and Leave Sasha Alone
The writers don’t know what to do with her.
Even though General Hospital fans have been begging the writers to come up with something to take the focus away from all the mature couples and introduce more younger ones, the direction they take such fan-favorites as Sasha and Trina do not look too exciting to the viewers. In fact, they now wish the writers to pack it up too.
While Trina gets to have her fun with Gio, Sasha goes through the second puberty with Cody. The will they/won’t they tension could’ve been interesting and sweet for a while, but the longer it takes, the more viewers want to move on from it. Here’s what the show could do to fix this mess of a storyline.
Will Sasha and Cody Get Together?
The way the writers planned on bringing Sasha and Cody together was obvious from the beginning, but at some point they decided that the couple could not be together without actually living on the same property, so Sasha made the wildest career change and became the chef at the Quartermaine residence.
That might have been acceptable if the show hadn't had the longest history for her character and didn't have to scrap it all for a chance at another romance. But that was just the beginning of something that would lead to the downfall of Sasha's character. The teen-like storyline that followed did nothing for her either.
Considering everything Sasha has been through on General Hospital, her return is nothing short of miraculous, and all viewers wanted to see for her character was a chance to settle down. Not just into a relationship with someone, but into the life she would choose for herself.
It's time to give Sasha confidence and success, not play with everyone's feelings as if she's 16.
High school drama will always be close to the hearts of viewers, but it has its own time and place. Since General Hospital doesn't want to introduce any more young newcomers or develop anyone already living in Port Charles in that age group, they need to focus the writing on the characters they're working with.
If Sasha and Cody are going to happen, fans want to see them unapologetically happy and loyal to each other, at least for a while. If they're not, it's time to cut through the longing and yearning and get them both into arcs that actually fit the soap's dynamic and do them both justice.
To see where the story takes their characters, be sure to tune in to General Hospital Monday through Friday on ABC.
