Everything can still change.

Throughout the 60 years of General Hospital on ABC, things have changed quite drastically in the fictional town of Port Charles where the show is set. While some changes were for the better, others were so bad that they nearly ruined the show.

As of today, General Hospital's stance on television is somewhat stable, but there are still some things that viewers would have changed. Sonny and Carly's extensive presence in almost every storyline is one of them. While it may seem like the soap is listening to its viewers for the first time in years, fans know it's too soon to believe.

Will General Hospital’s Sonny and Carly Be Together?

Even though Carly and Sonny Corinthos are no longer romantically involved, they were before and, as viewers now have no doubt, they will be in the future. No matter how many partners the show throws at them, it feels like when it's time for their characters to retire, they'll get their happy ending.

And speaking of retirement, some viewers are inclined to think it has to come sooner rather than later. With Sonny becoming less threatening with every episode and Carly's flawless self becoming more and more annoying, General Hospital can't keep any of the storylines affected by them entertaining. Everything becomes far too predictable.

Luckily for all those viewers who are rooting for Carly to step down, May was a month where the show took a step back and focused on other characters. According to the episode count, out of a total of 22 episodes, Carly only appeared in 8. However, that was completely compensated by Sonny landing at the top of the list with 14 episodes.

While Carly's absence was noticeable, and some viewers may think it had more to do with the writers listening to the fandom, others don't think so. The lack of Carly scenes was primarily dictated by the wedding, which was the main theme of General Hospital's episodes throughout the month.

“Isn’t it likely that writers are trying to get back to some balance. I don’t think one month is proof that it wasn’t the Carly show. Maybe even the writers saw she was monopolizing the show and finally starting cutting her back,” X user Latbratt2 said.

So the nice trend will probably stop and turn around in June. If it doesn't, viewers will be pleasantly surprised by General Hospital for the first time in years.

If you want to see what happens next on the soap, tune in to ABC Monday through Friday to make sure you don't miss a single episode.
