We're yet to see how Sasha's story ends (and a new torture begins).

It's not uncommon practice for soap opera characters to be temporarily written off the screens while actors are dealing with something of their own, whether it is some family business, health issues, or a side project they're eager to do.

General Hospital is no exception, and this time, the character that would stay off the screens for some time is Sasha Corbin. With actress Sofia Mattsson, who portrayed Sasha over the years, stepping down from the project, fans welcome the news because the leave offers a much-needed break for her character.

Of course, the writer's willingness to put Mattsson's character through literal hell must be an indication of the actress' mad drama skills, and the audience agrees with that. What they can't ever agree on, however, is turning Sasha's story into continuous torture just for the sake of emotional reaction.

Losing her child to a disease and the love of her life to criminals, this woman already had enough, but the General Hospital writers decided to take it a step further and put Sasha's whole life in the hands of her crazy mother-in-law, Gladys Corbin. Ever since that happened, the show's fans have been waiting for Sasha to regain her power and fight Gladys back, but the end of her struggles doesn't feel anywhere near.

Instead of being able to put up a fight and run away, Sasha is being written off by having another breakdown and ending up in Ferncliff Asylum.

Although there's a slight hope for Sasha to finally find the help she needs there and grow the strength to break from her current situation, the asylum doesn't seem like the kind of place that promises something good to come.

Re-evaluation of her case would be the best thing that Sasha can get there, but we'll have to wait until Sofia Mattsson's break is over to see if the writers decide to take her story that way.

To see what awaits Sasha's torturer Gladys in the meantime, tune in to General Hospital on ABC Monday through Friday.
