With Soldier Boy out of the picture for some time, this device could prove to be a great alternative to using Temp V to fight the most powerful supe.

Gen V, a spin-off series that expands the wildly popular The Boys TV franchise, turned out to be quite good, though not as great as the debut season of the main show.

The first three episodes of Gen V had everything the franchise is known for: cool superpowers, gory scenes, some very surprising deaths, and also provided some nice insight into superheroes before they are corrupted by fame and corporate shenanigans.

The show also nicely adds depth to the world of The Boys by introducing elements that may affect the main show in the future, such as important characters like Tek Knight, played by Derek Wilson.

But arguably the most notable thing the spin-off has introduced is the device that ordinary people can use to fight supes who want to rip their heads off.

We see a security guard use a small device that generates high intensity sound waves to incapacitate one of the characters, who, due to their enhanced hearing, is unable to withstand the effects of the weapon, while the security guard appears to be perfectly fine.

While it's not lethal, at least not right away, and it might not work against supes who don't have enhanced hearing, it might be perfect for subduing and weakening the most powerful of them all – Homelander.

It has been made clear throughout the main series that Homelander, much like his prototype Superman, can hear things from miles away and even listen to people's heartbeats to determine if they are lying.

We also saw that Homelander's eardrums are not as invulnerable as his skin, as during the climactic battle in the season 3 finale of The Boys, Queen Maeve stabbed him in the ear with a metal straw, causing bleeding and tinnitus.

Considering that Soldier Boy is out of the picture for at least a while, and the rest of The Boys are unlikely to use temporary Compound V due to its deadly side effects, stealing a handful of these devices from Vought could prove to be a great help against Homelander.

Gen V episode 4 will be released on October 6, 2023.

Do you think intense sound waves would work against Homelander?
