It appears that this version of the character in The Boys TV franchise actually has superpowers, unlike his comic book counterpart.

Ever since season 1 of The Boys TV series was released, fans have been wondering when Tek-Knight, a superhero inspired by Marvel's Iron Man and DC's Batman, would finally appear, as references to him have been present throughout all seasons of the show.

Although he has yet to be introduced in the main series, it was announced that he would appear in the Gen V spin-off, and the just released fourth episode of the series finally shown the long-awaited character, played by Derek Wilson.

While his version of the character didn't wear his iconic high-tech suit, at least not yet, Wilson's portrayal of Tek-Knight possessed the character's most notable trait, an uncontrollable sex drive toward basically everything, even inanimate objects, caused by a brain tumor.

However, as was the case with many characters in The Boys TV franchise, he is still quite different from his comic book counterpart, with the most significant difference being that in the series he apparently possesses actual superpowers.

In the comics, Tek-Knight relied heavily on technology, much like his Marvel and DC counterparts, and used a set of high-tech armor.

In Gen V, he is presented as a genius detective who even has his own TV show and is very skilled at interrogation techniques, detecting lies, and noticing extremely small details such as pupil dilation, vein popping, and other physical reactions.

This may be an indication that his superpower is heightened perception, as it is far greater than that of a normal human.

He is also referred to as a graduate of Godolkin University, an educational institution specifically for superhumans, and at one point he threatens to rip the hand off of another supe, which may indicate that he is also superstrong.

All of this certainly makes it look like Tek-Knight isn't an ordinary human, which isn't surprising considering how often the TV franchise has deviated from its source material.

For now, it is unclear if he returns to Gen V anytime soon, but if not, we will probably see him in the upcoming season 4 of the main series, as not showing him in his signature suit would be a huge missed opportunity.

Gen V episode 5 will be released on October 13, 2023.
