Gen V Episodes 1-3: 8 Clever Easter Eggs You Have Probably Missed
Have you noticed these subtle nods to Marvel?
The highly anticipated spinoff of The Boys is finally here. The first three episodes of Gen V haven’t disappointed fans of the show. The spinoff contains tons of references, Easter eggs, and connections to The Boys universe, and it’s time to break them down.
1. Queen Maeve's Lasagna (Episode 1)
Queen Maeve faked her death in the season 3 finale of The Boys, and now her vegan lasagna has become a hot commodity in Gen V. Plus, we see that her autographed Funko Pop is selling for a whopping two grand on V Bay (a fun spoof of eBay).
2. Keep America Safe (Episode 2)
The guys laughing near Brink’s memorial seem to be fans of Homelander, with two of them wearing Homelander T-shirts, and one of them having a red cap that reads, “Keep America safe,” which is a slogan from Homelander’s rally in season 3.
3. The Boys Finale (Episode 1)
On the news, we can see a nod to the finale of The Boys season 3 when the Seven Tower was damaged during the final fight. We find out that Vought wants to make it look like a Russian attack.
4. Indira Shetty (Episode 1)
Indira Shetty, the dean of Godolkin University, takes a special interest in Marie Moreau. The character might have borrowed the name from one of the producers of the show, Pavun Shetty.
5. Jordan’s Duality (Episode 2)
Jordan, a bigender supe who has the ability to change between two sexes, even has a reference to their powers on their jacket. On the one side of their jacket, there is a dragon, and on the other, we see an eagle.
6. Ant-Man (Episode 3)
Emma has a superpower similar to Ant-Man’s from Marvel, and she even drops a cool reference to him. In episode 3, she, being able to shrink, mentions she's been battling ants all night. That’s exactly what Hank Pym did when he first shrunk in the comic books.
7. David Caruso (Episode 1)
Emma's hamster is named after David Caruso, an actor who shot to fame with NYPD Blue, but then faced a career downturn with the movie Jade.
8. Marvel’s WandaVision (Episode 1)
Justine, the girl who eventually tells everyone Emma’s secret, brags about her new VA Plus show being “an elevated superhero thing, a meditation on grief told through seventy years of sitcoms.” Sounds eerily similar to the premise of the Disney+ 's WandaVision.
