The final twist suggests that a certain character may indeed work for Vought, or at least have their own agenda.

The fourth episode of Gen V is finally out, continuing the story of the students of Godolkin University.

While it resolved the cliffhanger from the previous episode, finally introduced Tek Knight, and further developed the main characters, arguably the most intriguing part of the episode was its ending, as it made a popular fan theory even more plausible.

Over the course of the show's first three episodes, all of which were released last week, fans have grown rather suspicious of Cate Dunlap, played by Maddie Phillips, a girl who can affect people's minds by touching them.

She is a former girlfriend of the now deceased Golden Boy, and she was shown in a flashback sequence helping him subdue his mentally ill (and even more powerful) brother, but kept it a secret from the rest of the main characters.

Such shady behavior led some Reddit fans to believe that she may have a secret agenda, and may even be secretly working for Vought.

In the finale of episode 4, Cate, Marie, Andre, Emma, and Jordan are trying to calm down Sam Riordan, the aforementioned brother of Golden Boy, when the screen suddenly goes black.

In the next scene, we see Marie waking up in bed with Jordan, seemingly unaware of what happened during the time skip.

Considering that Cate is strangely absent from the picture just before the cut to black, many fans believe that she influenced her "friends'" minds and made them forget what they were doing.

Yes, it was made clear that Cate has to touch her victim to cloud their minds and that she gets severely exhausted to the point of passing out from influencing too many people at once, but all of that may have been an elaborate act to hide the true extent of her powers.

With all that in mind, the possibility that Cate is secretly working for Vought, or has her own secret agenda, has a pretty good chance of being true.

However, there is another reason why she could have influenced her friends' minds without actually betraying them.

They could have just asked Cate to erase their memories of where they hid Sam, which is a clever way of keeping that information out of Vought's hands.

Some bad guys, like Tek Knight, have very effective interrogation techniques, so the best way to hide the truth is not to know it at all.

Gen V episode 5 will premiere on October 13, 2023.

Do you think Cate could be a traitor?
