Gary Oldman To Reunite With Christopher Nolan In 'Oppenheimer'
Christopher Nolan's new directorial project 'Oppenheimer' stars Cillian Murphy ('Peaky Blinders') as Robert J. Oppenheimer, the scientist who helped to create the atomic bomb for the U.S. military that was dropped upon Japan, leading to the end of WWII but costing thousands of lives in the aftermath.
Recently Gary Oldman has revealed that he's going to join the project. And though, according to his own words, the part isn't that big, it obviously can be treated as a reunion: Oldman played Commissioner Jim Gordon in Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy. By the way, Cillian Murphy was also there, quite brilliantly having portrayed Dr. Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow.
Oldman joins quite an impressive cast: 'Oppenheimer ' stars Emily Blunt as biologist Katherine Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss , Matt Damon as the director of Manhattan Project. Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Alex Wolff and Matthew Modine round out the star-filled ensemble.
Some critics are already worried that the main cast of the film, which story is deeply connected to Japan, mostly consists of white actors – and hope that 'Oppenheimer' isn't going to be "a controversial film".
